Studying transformative AI with BlueDot

I spoke to BlueDot Impact about my work advising governments on governing with AI, and on governing AI itself, and they made the little video below. I talk about what their seminars were like for me, and why I do the work I do on transformative AI in low- and middle-income countries! BlueDot runs cohort-based courses on AI governance and on how to make AI go well if it keeps advancing as rapidly as it has. Although I had already worked on digital transformation, tech, applied data science & AI for 10+ years, I took their Frontier AI Governance course in the summer of 2024 (with Ashyana-Jasmine Kachra, Linnea Laestadius, PhD, MPP, Maddie A. and a bunch of other great folks) and their Economics of Transformative AI seminar in early 2025 (with Deric Cheng and a group of great economists). It felt like being back in a grad school seminar (a compliment, in my book): weekly readings and facilitated discussions in small, well-matched groups of really thoughtful, smart people. The world is moving so rapidly that we are all figuring it out at the same time, and together, in many ways. I highly recommend BlueDot's courses to anyone working in government or in global development. Your skills and experience are needed in the world to come, and the courses are a great way to get up to speed, carve out structured time to think, and reflect deeply on what advancing AI means for your field. They are free (pay what you want), and now run as 5-6 week part-time cohorts or one-week intensives, so it is possible to make them fit alongside a day job. The first step is to apply for their AGI Strategy course: applications for the next cohorts close on 16 Aug., 30 Aug. and 13 Sep. (i.e., they run very regularly!): https://lnkd.in/diAKMyU5
